...What? Allison , is that a Katy Perry song you just used in your set?
Mhmm. I spent the last week in Kentucky with my church for a mission trip. On the way back today, I was in the truck with Katie and Selina, who are top 40 junkies, and of everything they played, Katy Perry was definitely the catchiest. And that's why I made a set with it...that, and that it's stuck in my head.
...Anyway. Mission trip. We went to Crank's Creek in Harlan County, Kentucky. It really was the best time I've had in a while. Even while bathing in a lake, surviving without air conditioning, obtaining a not-so-fashionable sock tan, and getting awful sunburn on the back of my left knee, I would not have traded that week for anything. There were four different churches there, and we were split into different groups identified by color. I was in the red group, and we worked on the house of this man named Bill, and he was the sweetest old man. We deconstructed and reconstructed his front porch, took off and replaced panels of siding of his house, and painted the entire house over the course of four days for seven hours a day. Although it was a bunch of hard work, it was a wonderful experience.
...That's it in a nut shell. I'd love to expand on that, but I'm reallyreally tired from waking up at 6:45 am. It's now 1:29 am. Do the math. xDD
...Soo, Yeah. If I make another set soon, I may talk more about it. We'll see.
However, I will add: Yesterday was the last night, and we had this hugehuge meeting at a pavilion near the lake. Of course, there were lots of songs and such, and Barry told me I had a very lovely singing voice, and that he was genuinely surprised that somebody so quiet could sing so nicely. I totally denied that I had any singing talent, because I personally don't think I'm that great, but he really made my night. :3
